THE #LITTLELITTERLEAGUE has launched a new neighbourhood litter pickers group in Leys, Dagenham East – and instantly achieved a new milestone during their very first activity.

The residents group debuted at Tyrell Gardens, Leys Children's Centre, and collected 700 full rubbish bags during the session. The activity was co-ordinated by resident Muhammad Haque of Barking & Dagenham Universal Services in partnership with #littlelitterleague Captain Emdad Rahman.

Speaking after reaching 700 bags, Zoinul Abidin – Head of Universal Services, Barking & Dagenham and a regular litter picking volunteer – commented, “We had a nice small group today, and they did a marvellous job. We have already identified some hotspots within the locality and the sight of the youngsters and their parents out cleaning will have a profoundly positive effect on the whole community.”

Muhammad Haque added, “Both my daughters joined us, so today has been a special day. They will be really proud to learn that they’ve helped the #littlelitterkeague reach 700 bags.”

Emdad Rahman concluded, “The perfect planet is Earth, and it is our home. Through modelling and raising aspirations we can leave our world in a better condition for future generations.”
